Les Frères Mignon Laventure 1er Cru

Les Frères Mignon Laventure 1er Cru is the brothers’ Chardonnay Champagne and the clearest introduction to the white-grape side of their young Côte des Blancs grower project.

Laventure 1er Cru is the natural starting point for understanding Les Frères Mignon. Chardonnay is the grape identified for the wine, making the cuvée the most direct route into the white-grape side of a domaine whose centre of gravity lies firmly in the Côte des Blancs. The project is comparatively young even though the vineyards are not. Brothers Florent and Julien Mignon took responsibility for the family holdings in 2015 after generations had largely sold grapes into the wider Champagne trade, and made their first independent harvest in 2016. Their work therefore represents a new estate-bottling chapter built from an established family vineyard base. Current specialist material places the domaine at roughly 8.5 hectares. Chardonnay in Cramant, Avize and Cuis forms the core of the estate, while smaller Pinot Noir holdings in the Vallée de la Marne provide a contrasting second strand. Within that framework, Laventure is the broadest introduction to the Chardonnay side. More specialised village and parcel releases narrow the focus further, while the Cumières wine provides the clearer route into Pinot Noir and the Marne Valley holdings. For a buyer, that makes Laventure particularly useful before moving into the more detailed bottlings. The wine establishes the domaine’s principal grape and general Côte des Blancs orientation without requiring assumptions about a specific vintage, dosage or parcel that are not fixed in the standing product identity. Les Frères Mignon Laventure 1er Cru is therefore best understood as the baseline Chardonnay expression of a developing grower estate: a clear first bottle for anyone who wants to see how the brothers have turned long-held family vineyards into a distinct modern Champagne identity.
