Boizel Brut Réserve

Brut Réserve is the clearest starting point for understanding Boizel. It is the house’s core multi-vintage blend and brings together all three principal Champagne grapes in a current composition of 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 25% Meunier. Reserve wines account for 40% of the blend, which gives the cuvée an important continuity component alongside the current harvest. The wine then spends three years on the lees before release and is finished at 7 g/L dosage. Those figures give Brut Réserve a complete technical outline and make it particularly useful as the benchmark against which the rest of the range can be understood. Boizel is a family Champagne house founded in Épernay in 1834 and still led by the sixth generation. Its sourcing combines a relatively small estate vineyard with long-standing grower relationships across several parts of Champagne, allowing the house to work with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier from a broad regional base. Brut Réserve instead remains the broad house statement. For someone buying Boizel for the first time, it is therefore more informative than starting with the most expensive bottle. It establishes the producer’s multi-region, multi-grape blending model before the range becomes more specialised.
