Cristian Senez Le Cornoyer 2014
2014
Cristian Senez Le Cornoyer 2014 is a single-parcel 100% Pinot Blanc Champagne from Fontette, matured for at least 74 months and finished as Extra-Brut at 6 g/L.
Cristian Senez Le Cornoyer 2014 is the most focused Pinot Blanc wine in the estate’s range and one of the clearest examples of why this Côte des Bar producer deserves attention beyond the region’s familiar Pinot Noir story. It is made entirely from Pinot Blanc grown in the south-facing Le Cornoyer parcel at Fontette, on clay-limestone soil.
The 2014 release is vinified in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation, in keeping with a defining cellar choice across the Cristian Senez range. It then spends at least 74 months in the cellar before release and is finished as Extra-Brut at 6 g/L. Those details make this a very specific wine rather than a generic rare-grape curiosity: parcel, grape, vintage and maturation are all central to its identity.
Cristian Senez has made Pinot Blanc unusually visible within a portfolio that also includes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Cuvée des Filles and Brut Nature both bring the variety into blends, but Le Cornoyer isolates it completely. For buyers interested in Champagne’s less common authorised grapes, this is therefore the most direct route through the estate.
The wine also offers a useful contrast with Carte Blanche, where Pinot Noir and the house’s no-malolactic approach are easier to read, and with Brut Nature, where Pinot Blanc forms part of a three-grape zero-dosage blend. Le Cornoyer is narrower, more site-specific and more explicitly tied to one vintage.
Choose the 2014 when you want a Champagne whose interest lies in grape variety and parcel identity rather than brand hierarchy. Its long cellar ageing adds another layer to the proposition, but the core reason to buy it is simpler: this is a mature, single-parcel Pinot Blanc from a producer that treats the variety as a serious part of its contemporary range.
