Cuperly Prestige Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru
Cuperly Prestige Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a 100% Chardonnay Champagne from Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, with extended barrel and lees ageing.
Cuperly Prestige Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is the Chardonnay-focused half of the house’s Prestige comparison. Made entirely from Chardonnay sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, it combines two important Champagne zones in a cuvée designed to isolate the white grape within Cuperly’s established cellar framework.
The technical profile is unusually substantial for a non-vintage Prestige wine. Around 70% of the reserve wines are matured in oak, the wine spends a year in barrel and then five years on lees, with a dosage of 8 g/L. Those details make this more than a simple varietal label: the extended ageing and significant oak-matured reserve component are central to how the cuvée is positioned.
Maison Cuperly is an independent family house based in Verzy on the Montagne de Reims, with roots dating to 1845. Across the current Grande Réserve and Prestige wines, the producer repeatedly works with first-press Grand Cru fruit, reserve wines matured in oak and long lees ageing, while using different grape varieties and sources to create contrast between cuvées.
For buyers, the most useful comparison is with Prestige Blanc de Noirs. The two wines share a similar maturation structure but separate Chardonnay from Pinot Noir, making them a particularly clear way to explore grape variety within one house rather than comparing unrelated producers.
Grande Réserve Brut remains the easier starting point for Cuperly as a whole. Prestige Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is the more focused purchase when Chardonnay is the priority and when the combination of Grand Cru sourcing, reserve-wine maturation and extended cellar time is part of the appeal.
It is therefore best understood as a structured Chardonnay study within the Cuperly range: 100% Chardonnay, Grand Cru origins across two major Champagne sectors, a substantial oak-matured reserve component, one year in barrel, five years on lees and an 8 g/L dosage.
